How Much Does Fiverr Pull From Your Earnings?

As a seller on Fiverr, **the math is brutal but simple: Fiverr takes a flat 20% of every transaction.** If you sell a $100 logo design, you receive $80 into your balance. If the client adds a $20 tip, Fiverr takes 20% of the tip as well.

This high commission rate is the "tax" you pay for Fiverr bringing clients directly to your inbox. However, when you don't account for this fee in your pricing strategy, you end up working for far less than minimum wage. Use the "I have an Income Goal" mode above to figure out what you actually need to price your gig at to hit your real targets.

Wait, Does Fiverr Charge the Buyer Too?

Yes. Fiverr double-dips on fees. While you lose 20% of the revenue, the buyer has to pay a service fee just to make the purchase.

Currently, **Fiverr charges buyers a 5.5% service fee on the purchase amount.** For orders under $75, an additional $3 "small order fee" is applied. This means a client buying a $10 gig actually pays about $13.55, while you walk away with $8.

Understanding the total cost to the buyer is crucial when offering custom quotes. If a client has a strict $500 budget, you cannot quote them $500 — because with the 5.5% fee, their card will be charged $527.50. You need to quote them around $473.00 so the final total stays under their limit.

Pro Tip: Don't Compete on $5 Prices

"Fiverr" got its name from the original premise of selling $5 services. Today, selling at $5 is a trap. Once Fiverr takes its 20% cut ($1), you're left with $4. If you have to pay withdrawal fees to PayPal or Payoneer, you might only actually see $3.60. Unless you are selling a pre-made digital product that requires literally zero minutes of your time, raise your prices immediately.
